In terms of styling, the M5 Smart Driving Edition continues the design of the existing model as a whole, but the configuration has been upgraded to a certain extent, with a wider range of double-lens headlights, and will be equipped with a new 20-inch wheel rim. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with a magic suction car interface, enabling instant connection.
The M5 Smart Driving Edition is the first model equipped with HUAWEI ADS 2.0 high-end intelligent driving system, equipped with a total of 1 lidar, 3 millimeter-wave radars, 11 camera groups and 12 ultrasonic radars. The computing unit is also replaced by Huawei’s self-developed MDC intelligent driving computing platform, with a data processing capacity of 1GB/second. It can achieve 360 ° full-range coverage and all-weather perception, with a maximum detection distance of 200m.
HUAWEI ADS 2.0 is upgraded on the basis of 1.0, and the road topology inference network is further enhanced. Even without high-precision maps, you can understand the road, traffic lights and other road elements, making it possible to open without pictures. This year Q3 will achieve the landing of 15 cities without pictures, and Q4 will add 30 cities without pictures, reaching 45 cities. The system can cover 90% of urban scenes, and can also pass smoothly at complex intersections and scenes of mixed people and vehicles. It can actively overtake and change lanes, escape difficulties and change lanes, greatly improving travel efficiency.
In terms of high-speed NCA (Smart Driving Pilot Assistance), the M5 Smart Driving Edition can automatically enter and exit the high-speed ramp, with a success rate of 98.86%, and the long-distance Pilot MPI (Miles Per Intervention average takeover mileage) is as high as 114km. For overpasses and cross-bridges on high-speed and expressways, the system will decelerate in advance before entering the curve. When passing through large curvature curves, the vehicle remains centered and there will be no frequent back and forth corrections, bringing stable comfort to drivers and passengers.
Smart parking features will include APA (Intelligent Parking Assist), RPA (Remote Parking Assist), and AVP (Valet Parking Assist), of which AVP is expected to be functional by the end of 2023. HUAWEI ADS 2.0 has further improved its ability to handle narrow parking spaces. For narrow parking spaces with a width margin of only more than 0.4 meters, it can be easily completed through APA Smart Parking. For extremely narrow parking spaces with a width margin of less than 0.4 meters, it can also be realized through RPA.
In terms of power, the M5 smart driving version still uses extended-range hybrid and pure electric versions. The extended-range hybrid version has a comprehensive peak power of 200kW in the power system, a fuel consumption of 0.53L/100km under WLTC conditions, and a pure electric battery life of 255km. The comprehensive cruising range is 1425km. The pure electric version continues to provide rear-drive and four-wheel drive versions. The rear-drive version has a maximum power of 200kW and a peak torque of 360Nm; the four-wheel drive version has a maximum power of 315kW and a peak torque of 720Nm.
